Your liver performs over 500 essential functions, from filtering toxins and metabolising medications to processing fats and regulating blood sugar. Liver disease often progresses without symptoms for years, and by the time problems become obvious, significant damage may have already occurred. Our Liver Health Assessment detects early signs of liver stress, fatty liver, and fibrosis risk before they become serious.
Our liver health assessment goes beyond standard liver function tests. We calculate your FIB-4 fibrosis score, a validated clinical tool that estimates the degree of liver scarring using a combination of your age, platelet count, AST, and ALT levels. This score helps us identify patients who may have early fibrosis even when standard liver enzymes appear normal.
We also evaluate your complete liver function panel including AST, ALT, GGT, ALP, and serum albumin. Each of these markers tells a different part of the story. Elevated GGT, for example, can indicate alcohol-related liver stress or bile duct issues, while low albumin may signal chronic liver dysfunction.
When your FIB-4 score or other markers suggest elevated fibrosis risk, we arrange a Fibroscan referral for a non-invasive measurement of liver stiffness, providing a clearer picture of liver health without the need for a biopsy.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is now one of the most common liver conditions worldwide, affecting an estimated 25 to 30 percent of the adult population. It is closely linked to insulin resistance, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. In many cases, fatty liver is the first sign that metabolic health is declining, and it can progress to inflammation (NASH), fibrosis, and eventually cirrhosis if left unaddressed.
The good news is that early-stage fatty liver and mild fibrosis are often reversible with targeted lifestyle changes including diet modification, regular exercise, and weight management. Early detection gives you the opportunity to act before permanent damage occurs.
Have been diagnosed with fatty liver or elevated liver enzymes. Are overweight or have metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, or Type 2 diabetes. Take long-term medications that may affect liver function, including statins, metformin, or paracetamol. Consume alcohol regularly, even in moderate amounts. Have a family history of liver disease.
Liver health is one of eight domains assessed in our Smart Whole Body Check-up. Your liver function is closely connected to your metabolic health, cardiovascular risk, and nutritional status. The check-up evaluates all of these together to give you a complete, personalised health profile.
