Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)

Track your sugar like a pro day and night.

Managing diabetes isn’t just about fasting sugar levels and HbA1c anymore. To truly understand how your body responds to food, exercise, sleep, and stress, you need deeper, real-time insights. That’s exactly what Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) provides. At Vitalis Health, we offer personalized CGM services that reveal your full metabolic story and help you take control of your diabetes with precision.

CGM involves wearing a small sensor on your body that measures your glucose levels continuously over several days. Unlike finger-prick testing, which gives you a few snapshots a day, CGM tracks your sugar levels 24/7, capturing important trends and fluctuations that traditional tests miss.

This data gives you a clear picture of how different foods affect your sugar, whether your medication timings are effective, and how your body responds during sleep, workouts, or stressful situations. You can see exactly when your sugar spikes or drops—and why. This insight is powerful, especially for people with unpredictable sugar levels, those newly diagnosed, or anyone striving for tighter control.

Why blood sugar monitoring matters

Managing diabetes or prediabetes is not simply a matter of keeping your fasting glucose within range. Blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day in response to everything you eat, how you move, how well you sleep, and how stressed you are. A single fasting reading or even an HbA1c test gives you an average, but it cannot tell you which foods spike your glucose, how long those spikes last, or how your body responds overnight.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring changes this completely. A small sensor worn on the back of your upper arm measures your glucose every few minutes for 14 days, building a complete picture of your blood sugar patterns across real life situations.

At Vitalis Health, CGM is available to everyone, not only existing patients. You do not need a prior appointment or a referral. The sensor is fitted at the clinic, worn discreetly under clothing, and read using any NFC-enabled smartphone.

What CGM can show you

  • Which meals cause significant glucose spikes and which do not
  • How your blood sugar behaves overnight and whether you experience nocturnal hypoglycaemia
  • How physical activity affects your glucose levels in real time
  • Whether your current medication is controlling your glucose effectively throughout the day
  • How stress, poor sleep, and illness affect your readings
  • Your time in range- the proportion of the day your glucose stays within healthy limits

What is included

CGM Device with Fitting

The sensor is applied to the back of your upper arm at the clinic. It can be worn throughout the 14-day period without hindrance to daily activities including bathing and light exercise. Readings are taken using any NFC-enabled smartphone at least once every eight hours. If you do not have an NFC-enabled phone, a reader device is available on request.

Daily Review Plan (Optional)

A once-daily teleconsultation with your physician to review your Continuous Glucose Monitoring sensor readings and discuss dietary or exercise modifications to bring your glucose levels into a healthier range. This is particularly valuable in the first week when patterns are emerging and early adjustments have the most impact.

How it works

1

Sensor fitting at the clinic

You visit Vitalis Health for a brief appointment, your doctor or a clinical staff member applies the CGM sensor to the back of your upper arm. The application takes a few minutes and is painless. You are shown how to scan the sensor with your phone before leaving.

2

14 days of continuous monitoring

You wear the sensor for 14 days and go about your normal life. Scan the sensor with your phone at least once every eight hours to capture the readings. The app stores your complete glucose history and displays trends, patterns, and time-in-range statistics.

3

Daily teleconsultation (optional)

If you have opted for the daily review plan, we will schedule a call at a time convenient for both you and your doctor to go through the previous day’s readings. She will suggest specific dietary changes, meal timing adjustments, or activity modifications based on what the data shows.

4

End-of-period review

At the end of the 14-day period, the complete dataset is reviewed. Your time in range, glucose variability, average levels, and key patterns are discussed. Medication adjustments, dietary plans, and further investigations are arranged as needed.

Who should consider CGM

CGM is particularly useful for patients with type 2 diabetes whose glucose is not well controlled despite medication, those with prediabetes who want to understand their metabolic response to food before diabetes develops, patients on insulin who need to monitor for hypoglycaemia, anyone who wants to optimise their diet and lifestyle using objective glucose data, and those whose HbA1c does not reflect how they feel day to day.
